The 4-stage private label sourcing pipeline
Launching a private label litter line is an engineering project, not a catalog purchase. At Devetop Technology we run every OEM brand through the same four controlled stages, so the product you approve in the sample kit is exactly what arrives in your container.
- Stage 1
Formula Selection & Custom Blending
We balance 3-second mechanical clumping against 100% toilet flushability, then tune pellet diameter, starch binder ratio, and optional carbon or cassava additives to your market.
- Stage 2
Packaging Engineering
Stand-up bags, boxes, or vacuum-sealed packs. We specify cylinder plates per color, UV spot highlights, and matte vs. glossy lamination to match your shelf positioning.
- Stage 3
Batch Production & Dust Extraction
Every batch passes through a triple-stage vacuum cyclone dust extraction system and is released only after ISO 9001 QA checks on moisture, clumping time, and dust.
- Stage 4
Container Stuffing & Global Logistics
Palletized or floor-loaded loose bags in 20'GP or 40'HQ, shipped via China–Europe Railway Express or ocean freight, with export documentation handled in-house.
Formula selection starts with the raw fiber itself. Our alpine moso bamboo is harvested from a 1,000-acre source, and its natural bamboo quinone compounds deliver up to 30 days of odor control without synthetic fragrance — a purity advantage over okara-based litters that absorb humidity and sour in warehouse storage. Transparent OEM commercial terms
Most sourcing friction comes from terms that are hidden until the proforma invoice arrives. Here is how factory-direct terms compare to the typical trading company or small plant.
| Term / Parameter | Factory Policy (Devetop Technology) | Traditional Trading Company / Small Plant |
|---|---|---|
| Trial Order Volume | 1/2 × 20' GP Container (~6–6.5 tons) | Rigid 1–2 Full 40'HQ Containers (20–40 tons) |
| Custom Bag MOQ | 10,000 pcs (surplus stored on-site with $0 holding fee) | 20,000–50,000 pcs or unprinted blank bags only |
| Cylinder / Plate Fee | Transparent 1-time fee based on colors; waived on recurring volume | Hidden markups; client forced to store bags |
| Sample Testing | Free physical sample kits (air freight 100% refunded) | Expensive sample fees with zero credit |
| International Settlement | USD, EUR, RMB, and RUB supported | USD wire transfer only |
| Factory Direct Location | Hangzhou, Zhejiang (1,000-acre alpine bamboo source) | Middleman broker or secondary reseller |
Trial volume matters because freight is the second-largest line in your landed cost. Our bamboo litter's low bulk density lets a half container carry more sellable bags, and every downstream courier leg is priced in a lighter weight tier. [See the math on how our ~400kg/m³ density saves up to 40% on Amazon FBA and courier fees]
The truth about custom packaging & cylinder fees
Rotogravure printing engraves each color of your artwork onto its own steel cylinder. Once the cylinders are mounted, the press runs laminated film at high speed under constant tension — and the first few hundred meters of every run are spent registering colors and stabilizing the web. Below roughly 10,000 bags, that setup waste and machine time make the per-bag cost uneconomic, which is why 10,000 pcs is the industry floor for printed film.
The problem for a new brand is cash flow: a 10,000-bag minimum usually forces you to buy far more filled product than a trial needs, or to store thousands of empty bags yourself. We decouple the two.
10,000
custom bags printed in a single gravure run.
~2,500
bags filled and shipped in your half-container trial — the only litter you pay for.
~7,500
empty printed bags warehoused in Hangzhou at $0 for your next reorder.
Your surplus bags are kept in our temperature-controlled Hangzhou facility, protected from humidity and UV so the film and print stay shelf-ready. When you reorder, production starts immediately from stock — no new cylinder fee, no re-proofing, and a 7–10 day turnaround.
Addressing the “clumping” question
The most common objection a new bamboo brand hears from retail buyers is about clump firmness compared with the clay they are used to. Here is the engineering answer we give our OEM partners.
“If your retail customers ask why bamboo clumping feels slightly softer than synthetic sodium bentonite clay, remind them: This is a deliberate formulation design to ensure 100% toilet flushability (<1 min breakdown) and zero harmful silica dust, striking the optimal equilibrium between easy scooping and long-term feline urinary/respiratory safety.”
